Teachers Itching to Get Back-to-School

Phnom Penh: Teachers and lecturers have welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement.

Both public and private school teachers and university lecturers have been working from home for over six months. They say they’re desperate to get back to in-person learning. Starting from Monday the National Pediatric Hospital opened its’ doors to offer the booster jab to those who qualified.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said this morning that as not all areas of Cambodia have the luxury of the internet for online learning, he would push to reopen schools for all ages in areas and villages where there no cases of Covid-19. We went to The National Pediatric Hospital to find out what was their thoughts.

Pen Rithy who works for the Ministry of Education “For me I think it’s good because we all want the students to attend school physically, so that they can meet other students, exchange ideas and learn. However, like my child, he has stayed at home alone and it’s hard for him to exchange ideas with other students, so it’s better if the schools go back to normal.” He believes re-opening the schools is the best way to get students back to some sense of normalcy.
